Vintage Tent Fabric Apron

These aprons are made by reusing the old fabric of military tents that had been paid for by the military.

There is a large military base in northern India, and military reimbursements are distributed in the surrounding cities. Wholesalers had gathered up and piled in layers the tents, which with their different colours depending on environment, green for the jungle, beige for the desert and white for the snowy mountains, created a captivating sight. Works in the area were also wearing military payouts.

The large tents are washed and then cut to avoid metal fittings such as eyelets and windows. Sometimes the dismantled fabric is stitched together into a single piece of cloth before making an apron with it. None of the finished aprons look the same.
